With April snow hitting some parts of the Midwest this weekend (what?!) and temperatures here in Atlanta dropping down to the mid 50’s, I wanted to share a casual, layered weekend look. This look is great for those days when the weather is unpredictable and for when you want to look cute even if you’re just running errands or grabbing a coffee :)One of my favorite tricks for adding layers and definition to my looks is to wear a button down under a long sleeve crew neck shirt or sweater. I have a few light weight button downs that I pull out just for this purpose – this chambray one from J. Crew, a striped, gauze one from J. Crew Factory (last seen in this post), and a polka dot one from Gap (last seen in this post). These are some of my closet staples – they’re perfect on their own but also great for layering, making for an item that can be worn year round!
Another closet staple is a striped tee. This J. Crew factory one is great quality and currently on sale for less than $30! I wear this shirt with everything from jeans to skirts to shorts (last seen in this post). The last layer I added was this light weight field jacket from Old Navy. I bought this piece back in the fall, so unfortunately, they don’t have it anymore, but I linked to a similar one above and also love this one from Madewell. Again, this is another great staple piece that you can wear year round. While these classic pieces work on their own, when mixed together, they make for a casual, cute (and warm) weekend outfit!Images are by the talented ShelbyRae Photographs.
