I’m back with another edition of Wedding Wednesday! This time I thought I would share some of my favorites from our engagement session and also a few of the tips I used from this post when choosing our two outfits.

We took our pictures in Piedmont Park with our wedding photographer, Laura Barnes. It was the perfect evening and we had so much fun. Laura made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, gave us great direction, and kept us laughing. I can’t wait until she captures our wedding in just a few weeks!

Now, for our outfits. The best place to start with what you should wear for your engagement photos is with the girl’s look (sorry guys!). Since we had time in our session for two looks, we did a dressy outfit and a casual one. I really wanted to incorporate white into my two looks, which is why I chose the white dress and skirt. This is obviously not a requirement, but I suggest choosing at least one neutral color that you will build both your looks around. For my top, I went with a solid color that I felt comfortable and confident in – navy. Choosing this color worked out well since it’s also one of our wedding colors!

Once I had my outfits nailed down, it was time to help Patrick. The white dress made it easy for Patrick’s dressier look so he went with a classic button down in a solid color and slacks. For his casual look, we used his top to tie in the white and navy from my look and then chose a neutral pant. One tip I really believe in, as I said in this post, is wearing something that you feel comfortable and confident in. I had already worn both these outfits before so I knew exactly how they would look in front of the camera and how I would feel posing in them for a couple hours. Don’t use your engagement photos to be daring with your style—stay true to you so that what’s truly captured is your love for and relationship with one another!
