Happy Wednesday and welcome to Baby Mines’ second bumpdate. As you can tell from the picture above, the bump is finally here! We took this picture last Monday at 20 weeks.
Here are a few more updates since bumpdate #1:
How far along are you: I’m 21.5 weeks today.
How are you feeling: A thousand times better than the first trimester. As soon as I entered the second trimester, my nausea and exhaustion disappeared practically overnight. I am so thankful that the nausea especially has subsided, I did not handle this side effect well!
Any other noticeable changes: Well the appearance of the bump has been the biggest change. I’ve switched to strechy pants, my lowest riding jeans, and now that the weather is warming up, dresses! I already have so many cute looks planned for April, including a few maternity dresses. I can’t wait to share them so stay tuned!
Are you still working out: Yes, I am still doing crossfit and bootcamp like I talked about in the first bumpdate post. I have modified most of the ab movements due to my growing bump and also my concerns with diastasis recti. Does anyone know about this? I have tried to learn as much as I can via articles online (this seems to be the most comprehensive post I’ve found thus far). I’ve also started to do pelvic floor exercises to try and prevent it from happening. Another change is how hard it is to run due to the constant feeling of having to go to the bathroom. I will literally go before I step out the door for a run and can’t make it more than a mile before I desperately have to go again. Anyone else have this issue? It is painful and frustrating, but I guess just part of the pregnancy process!
How is baby: Baby is doing great! We had our anatomy scan a few weeks ago and a checkup yesterday. He’s measuring right on track and his heartbeat is nice and strong. Hearing his little heart is my favorite part of every appointment!
What are you doing to prepare for baby: Now that we are past the halfway mark, I’ve gotten more serious about prepping for baby. Patrick gave me a hard time last week because I started nesting / cleaning out our apartment to make room for baby. We plan to stay in our one bedroom condo for as long as possible so reorganizing and purging our stuff was a much needed to do!
Since I’m planning to have a natural birth, I’ve started reading Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and am currently researching doulas in Atlanta. My midwife practice provided a great list of recommendations. However, if you know of any good ones in the Atlanta area, I’d love to hear them! Also on my list of to dos is signing up for a birthing and breastfeeding class. I know there is plenty more I could be reading and doing, but these are my top priorities currently.
Have you bought anything for baby: Since we don’t have a lot of space in our condo and in an attempt to not go crazy with purchases, I have restrained myself from buying anything just yet. I do have a few fun items on my wish list, including this adorable bison swaddle and a Solly Baby wrap. Another major to do is to create my registry so add that to the list above!
As always, thank you so much for your kind notes and well wishes for baby and I. It means so much! Also, thank you for following along on this journey with us. If you have any other questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!
