Happy Friday! Since last weekend marked 6 months of marriage and 1 year since our engagement (April 16, 2016), I thought it would be appropriate to finally share a recap of our wedding day with you all! There are a lot of pictures below, but it was just so hard to narrow down the best from this absolutely perfect day.
Here’s a brief recap: Patrick and I got married on October 15, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia where we both currently live. We got married at the church where we have been parishioners since moving to Atlanta three years ago, Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, which was incredibly special. The first priest we met here in Atlanta, Father Richard, who we are both close to, married us along with my uncle, Father Joe, who is a priest.
For our reception, we were so lucky to have it on the rooftop of Ponce City Market, one of the most historic buildings in Atlanta, which was recently renovated into a mixed-use development space. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect!
More details about our wedding day are recapped below. Be on the lookout for a separate post about all the little details / special touches we added to our wedding day, including signage, decorations, and flowers. Until then, enjoy some of my personal favorites from our special day!
Getting Ready / Pre-Ceremony
My ring is a pink sapphire. Patrick actually purchased it on Etsy from a shop in Thailand called Sundari Gems. If you are looking for a diamond alternative, I highly recommend Sundari.
Oh how I loved my dress! Thanks to the help of the Sentimentalist shop in Atlanta, I was able to create a one-of-a-kind dress. I did this by combining two of designer, Leanne Marshall’s, dresses together – the top of the Lucinda dress and the bottom of the Gabrielle dress. I then added a delicate gold ribbon belt from the Sentimentalist to complete the look!
I chose to just have my sisters, mom, and dad with me while I got ready. I then did a reveal with my bridesmaids when I got to the church. These are the pajamas I wore while getting ready. I had them embroidered with my new initials 🙂
My beautiful bridesmaids included Patrick’s three sisters, my two sisters, my four best friends from high school, my best friend from Notre Dame, and my best friend from Atlanta. We had a large wedding party!
For the dresses, I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to look uniform while also having a dress that they felt comfortable in and that worked for their body. I ended up finding these White by Vera Wang dresses at David’s Bridal and let them pick from five different styles as long as they got it in the marine color.
My handsome groom getting ready and reading the gift I gave him. For the groomsmen, we rented their tuxes from Menguin, which we highly recommend!
Patrick and I chose not to do a first look so the first time we saw each other all day was when I was walking down the aisle.
Bus Ride to the Reception!
We rented a bus to transport our wedding party from the church to the reception. While this was something I at first thought about cutting from the budget, I am so glad we didn’t. It made the day so much smoother as we were able to keep the wedding party together to quickly get pictures done before the reception. Plus, we had fun celebrating on the bus!
Pre-Reception Pictures at Ponce City Market
Since we had a Catholic wedding, our ceremony was early in the day (2:00 pm). We wanted to have a later reception, however, so we didn’t open reception doors until 5:00 pm. For the two hour break, the wedding party spent the time taking the above photos and we encouraged our guests to explore Ponce City Market.
If you made it this far, kudos to you! I tried not to go into too much detail, but if you have any questions about our wedding, I am happy to answer them. I absolutely loved planning every minute of our wedding and did most of the planning myself. I did, however, hire a month of coordinator, which was such a lifesaver for helping me stay stress free as our wedding day approached! Here is a list of all our wonderful vendors, and like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I’ll be sharing more detail images in an additional post soon!
