Baby Mines Bumpdate: 31 Weeks

Hello 31 weeks! Where is the time going?! I knew I would say this after the last bumpdate, but the bump is really growing. At 29 weeks, it really felt like it “popped” and has felt bigger and bigger every day since. Other than my bump and baby’s continued growth, I don’t have too much to update you on in this edition of the bumpdate, so I’ll keep it short and sweet, answering the questions I’ve continued to receive. However, we do have a life update, which is why I’ve been somewhat quiet on social media, so keep reading to find out more about that!

Size: Baby is the size of asparagus (ha!) according to the Bump app. He’s about 16 inches long and weighing in at almost 3.5 pounds. As of this week, all five of baby’s senses are fully developed and his irises now react to light!

How do you feel: I still feel really great and have little to no complaints. If I had to think of a few minor ones, it would be some digestive issues, growing belly aches, and the occasional lower back pain.

Baby’s name: Still under consideration! We haven’t made much progress on this front, and we may end up waiting to see his sweet face before deciding on what to call him.

Current pregnancy favorites: My white cropped maternity jeans from Loft. I wear them all the time! Who knew maternity jeans were so comfortable. You can see how I styled them here, here, here, and here. I also ordered a labor ball, aka an exercise ball, after sitting on one during my birthing class last weekend. It felt so good on my lower back and in opening up my hips so I’m excited to start sitting on it daily.

Working out: Still going strong at the gym, which I am so thankful for! I go to Crossfit about 4-5 times a week and honestly think working out has kept me feeling so good for so long. Plus, I would probably go crazy mentally if I wasn’t able to do some physical activity each day. I’ve had to modify more – crunches have been replaced with low abdominal crunches which I do while hanging from the pull-up bar and I use a raised platform to do burpees so I don’t have to drop my belly all the way to the ground – and overall slow down but again just thankful I’m still moving almost daily.

Labor prep update: Patrick and I attended our birthing class last weekend and loved it. It was 13 hours long (over two days), but we learned so much and feel much more prepared for labor and delivery. In the class, we covered everything from the different phases of labor, preparing your mind and body for labor, techniques and positions for labor and birth, all the hospital and newborn policies, procedures, and options, and what to expect in baby’s first weeks. If you live in Atlanta and are looking for a birth class, we highly recommend it!

Life update: We have finally decided to sale our one bedroom condo (which is going on the market tomorrow!), and buy a house, hopefully in time for baby’s arrival. While I’m sad to say goodbye to this condo I’ve loved living in for the past two years, I am so excited for us to have more space for baby. Maybe by the next bumpdate, we will have found our new home! Stay tuned for updates on this front 🙂

As always, thank you for your kind words, support, love, and encouragement. We are so excited for Baby Mines to be here in ~9 weeks! Until the next bumpdate…

Love, Lauren, Patrick, & Baby Mines
