Now that the temperature has dropped a little here in Atlanta, it’s finally starting to feel like fall. However, it’s not quite time to pull out all the cozy scarves, sweaters, and cords since the afternoons can still be a bit warm. Today, I’m sharing three tips to help you transition your wardrobe to fall: add layers, pair a light sweater with your shorts or skirts, and opt for clothes in fall hues.
1. Add layers
As you can see in today’s look, I added my go-to jean jacket. A light jacket is an easy way to stay warm in the mornings and then shed during the warmer afternoons. A jean jacket is a classic choice year-round (I last layered it with this shorts outfit), but I’m also loving these light jackets for fall:
2. Pair a sweater with your shorts or skirts
Get more wear out of your summer shorts and skirts by pairing them with a pullover sweater like this one from J. Crew Factory. Opting for a neutral color such as cream or tan makes it easy to pair with almost any bottom. I styled this same sweater with a floral skirt in this post for a similar transitional fall look. Here are a few of my favorite sweaters to style during this transitional period:
3. Opt for clothes in fall hues
Tan, black, burgundy, forest green – by selecting pieces in these more traditional fall colors, you can easily make any outfit seasonally appropriate. Here I went with a more neutral fall look of browns and blacks. You can see in this outfit I opted for tans and green.
I hope these three tips – add layers, opt for a sweater, and choose clothes in fall hues – help you transition your wardrobe to fall!
