This weekend we are going to a wedding in Chicago so I thought it would be the perfect time to share some fall wedding guest outfit ideas. Dressing for a fall wedding can be challenging. For the warmer months, you just pick out a dress and you’re good to go. However, for the cooler season, it can be difficult to figure out how to look chic while also staying warm. Keep reading for five ideas on how to create the perfect fall wedding guest outfit!
1. Add a shawl
You might recognize this dress from early in the season when I styled it for warmer weather here. To transform this dress for a fall wedding, I added this beautiful burgundy wrap. I found this one at Target from their A New Day brand. It’s less than $20 and comes in seven different colors! If you’re looking for a more investment worthy piece, then I’d recommend an ivory cashmere shawl like this one. It’s timeless and will go with everything.
2. Opt for a longer dress like a midi or maxi to keep those legs covered!
I love the midi length of this dress for a little extra leg coverage. The midi length is on trend right now so there are plenty of great options like this one, this one, and this one. For even more coverage, choose a full length dress like this one or this pretty velvet one!
3. Add a pretty coat
The right coat can also help transition your wedding guest dresses into the fall season. A classic ivory day coat will pair with everything while a fun leopard print coat will make a LBD look extra chic. Or, choose a faux fur coat for a glamorous ensemble.
4. Swap your dress for a jumpsuit
I like to call the jumpsuit the one piece wonder. It can be the perfect solution for staying warm and looking chic at a fall wedding. A few of my favorites that are wedding guest appropriate include this velvet one, this black one, and this satin one.
5. Pair a long skirt with a cozy sweater
If a jumpsuit is a little too bold for you, but you don’t want to wear a dress, then try a long skirt and sweater combo. You could do a tulle skirt, a sequin skirt, or a satin skirt and pair it with an ivory or pink sweater. Or, you could always go for a classic black one, too!
I hope this helped give you some ideas for what to wear to any weddings you might have this season! You can shop the entire post, and more of my favorite wedding guest outfit ideas, below!
