Happy Halloween! This month I thought I would start a new series called Styling More with Less. I’ve mentioned it a few times on the blog, but I really want Midtown Magnolia to be a place that promotes styling pieces multiple ways versus just buying tons of clothing items that you may only wear once. In an effort to continuously promote this idea, I thought at the end of every month I would recap the pieces that I styled multiple ways so that you can more easily see how this is possible!
For this month, the items that I focused on were a pair of green cargo pants, a corduroy mini skirt, a silk dress, and white jeans! Below you can see all the different ways I styled each of these pieces and also shop similar items to start building your capsule wardrobe. As a reminder, you can always find all of my outfits by visiting the outfits tab on my main menu. I hope you find this series helpful. Let me know what feedback you have or if you’d like to see this presented differently!
Green Cargo Pants
Green cargo pants are a great alternative to jeans for the fall. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of jeans, but it’s nice to mix it up every now and then. Plus, I find cargo pants to be more comfortable! These pants look great with almost any neutral, but my favorite pairing is with light pink. I love how the pink makes these pants feel a little more feminine.
Corduroy Mini Skirt
A corduroy mini skirt is a great fall piece for wearing all season long. It can be styled for those warmer fall days with a tee and flats or with boots, a sweater, and puffer vest as the days get cooler. It can also be dressed up or down – perfect for a casual weekend apple picking or a dinner date with your best girlfriends!
Having a go-to special occasion dress is essential for any season. I loved this pink silk dress for fall as I was able to style it more casually with a jean jacket and sandals for a friend’s baby shower and then dress it up with heels and a shawl for a wedding.
I’ve said it so many times, but yes, you can wear white jeans after Labor Day! These three looks prove that you can wear these jeans right through fall. It’s all about how you style them. When paired with a sweater vest, fall colors, or a utility jacket, they are perfect for the cooler season.
I’d love to know what you think of this new series! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
