Pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, blanket scarves, and plaid. Things that are inseparable from fall. Whether it’s a plaid scarf, dress or shirt, your fall wardrobe isn’t complete if you don’t have some sort of plaid piece. While I love a good plaid scarf, I tend to wear (and buy) plaid shirts the most. They’re like the equivalent of tees in the summer. An easy throw on and go top for almost any occasion.
There are a variety of plaid shirts, but my favorites are ones in dark fall hues or rich holiday colors. Since I can’t get myself to wear holiday plaid until after thanksgiving, I’m sharing one of my favorite fall plaid shirts for today’s look.
To make this look even more fall and cool weather appropriate, I layered my quilted vest and added my cognac over the knee boots (last styled here). I kept my pants neutral with a classic pair of black jeans.
Don’t be afraid to style your plaid shirts with different pieces in your wardrobe. They’re a great layering item and pair well under cardigans (see here and here), crew neck sweaters, and even dresses. I love a pop of plaid under a sweater dress or even a shirt dress. Paired with a skirt, a plaid shirt can also make for a perfect holiday party look.
If you need a little more plaid in your life, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite plaid shirts for you to shop below! Happy Friday!
