Styling a Slip Skirt for Fall

Even though slip skirts and dresses are trending this season, I wasn’t initially planning on adding one to my wardrobe. I’m not one to wear items that are fitted and I felt like a slip dress would hug my body just a little too much. As for a slip skirt, I hadn’t given much thought as to how I would even style one or why I would need one. These were my thoughts about the trend until I stumbled across this pink slip skirt from Target for just $28.

While the price tag helped me decide it was worth giving this trend a try, the beautiful pale pink color and luxe satin fabric is what initially caught my attention. I’m a sucker for anything pink and I just couldn’t believe this pretty piece was at Target.

When thinking about how I wanted to style it, I knew I wanted to be able to wear it through fall as the weather got cooler. A sweater seemed like the obvious choice, and I went with this oversized one (also from Target) to create an effortless chic look. I’ve already worn this sweater a lot this season. You can see how else I styled it here and here.

I love that this look is so elegant, yet simple. And, the price tag just can’t be beat. The sweater and the skirt combined are only $53! Plus, the sweater skirt combo is a perfect dressed up look that I can still nurse in. Much easier then finding a nice dress that’s nursing friendly!

This slip skirt might not be the most practical piece to add to your wardrobe, but every now and then, it’s fun to add something different, especially if it doesn’t break the bank. I plan to do another  post on how I’ll be styling this slip skirt for the holiday season. I also wore it earlier in the fall for our goddaughter’s baptism. You can see how I styled it for this occasion on my Instagram page or in this Motherhood Monday post. To wear it more casually, I’d swap my heels for some pointed toe flats.

I’ve rounded up my favorite slip skirts and oversized sweaters below if you want to give this look a try!
