Christmas in the south is unpredictable. Some years it’s cold with the smallest chance of snow, and other years, it’s in the seventies! This year, it looks like it’s going to be cold on Christmas day – in the mid-30’s. So, I’m already thinking about what I’ll be wearing in order to dress up and stay warm. Keep reading for my tips on doing just that!
1. Add Layers
I mentioned it last in this post, but I’ll say it again here. Layering a button down under a sweater is one of my favorite layering tricks. I love this sweater in particular for layering because it’s a nice lightweight. Because of this, I’m able to wear it almost year round. I love it with shorts (and no layers underneath) in the spring. Whether it’s a pullover sweater, a dressy cardigan, or a wrap, adding a few layers will help keep you warm yet still chic.
2. Cover those legs!
Typically, I’m not a huge fan of tights but I’m also not a fan of being freezing cold! If I do have to wear tights, you’ll find me in a monochromatic look between my tights and shoes, in today’s case, booties. Another great option if you’re not into tights are a great pair of over the knee boots.
3. Wear at least one festive piece
For this look, I opted for my favorite red plaid button down from J. Crew that I have had for years. You can see how I styled it last year here, here, and here and already this year here! Whether it’s a plaid button down in traditional Christmas colors or a velvet skirt in a winter wonderland pink, have at least one piece in your look be festive!
And there you have it, my three tips to dress up and stay warm this Christmas!
