This plaid shirt has been a wardrobe staple for me for years. My favorite way to style it is layered under a crew neck sweater or cardigan. If I really want to feel festive, I’ll wear it on it’s own like I did in the first look on the left. Since it’s more subtle layered under a sweater, you can definitely style this pieces past the Christmas season. Unfortunately since it’s over six years old, it’s no longer available but I love this similar option.

When I wrote this post about velvet being such a big trend for fall, I didn’t realize how much I would fall in love with it! Typically I don’t fall for trends this hard, but between these velvet pants and the velvet skirt that I’ll talk about next, these pieces were wardrobe warriors for me this season. I love that these pants can be dressed up or down, are comfortable to wear daily, yet dressy enough to wear out. They fit like a glove and the color goes with everything. Plus, they’re super warm! I’ll definitely be wearing these through the rest of winter.

This velvet skirt! My absolute favorite piece of 2017. It was so fun to style and you just can’t beat the $23 price tag. The material, feel, and fit of this skirt seems more like a $100 skirt than one that is less than $25. I also love the pale pink color. It’s perfect for pairing with so many different colored tops – from green to cream to black or burgundy. I will most definitely be wearing this skirt for the rest of winter. I already have an idea of how I want to style it for Valentine’s Day. So stay tuned!

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year’s! I can’t believe tomorrow is 2018. Thank you so much for all your support, sweet comments, and wonderful advice this year. I’m looking forward to sharing more ways to style more with less and continue the conversation about new motherhood in 2018!

xoxo, Lauren
