Happy Monday, friends! Before diving into today’s post, I have a few updates to share with you in regards to Midtown Magnolia. After Andrew’s birth, I decided to spend any free time I had during my six month maternity leave to work on this blog. Since then I’ve been sharing fresh content with you all five times a week. While this blog is just a hobby for me, the amount of time I spend working on it is like having a second full time job.
Ever since returning to work I’ve found it challenging to balance it all. From being a mom, a wife, working full time, maintaining my health and sanity, and starting a new project that I’ll be sharing with you all soon, I am spreading myself too thin. Thus, I’ve decided to scale Midtown Magnolia back down to three posts a week – M, W, and F. I will continue to share content on Instagram almost every day so be sure to follow me there if you don’t already!
In addition, Motherhood Monday posts as they’re known today – conversations and reflections on being a new mom – will only come out once a month – the first Monday of the month. The other Monday posts will focus on style through a motherhood lens. So for today’s mom style post, I’m talking about the mom jeans.
I love that mom jeans are in style right now. I’m a big fan of high waisted jeans as I’ve always felt they flatter and fit my body type the best. This style in particular – lighter denim, less stretch, a high rise, and an ankle cute – while being reminiscent of the 90’s mom jean style is also a very classic look. So I’m mixing mom style and classic style in today’s casual look.
I bought this pair of jeans from Everlane – a new to me retailer that I love! They are well made, fit true to size, and are affordable. I’ve been reaching for them almost every day since I got them.
I also recently bought these gold New Balance sneakers to be my go-to mom uniform shoes. Like my jeans, I’ve reached for them way too many times in the past few weeks. They’re just so comfy and I love the gold detailing.
I bought this J. Crew sweater a few years ago but found a similar version here. Tucking your top into high waisted jeans is an easy way to elongate your legs and create a more seamless look. A sweater tucked in is also a little unexpected and I really love the look that it creates.
I kept this look simple and comfy but classic – exactly how I want and need to dress as a mom.
